Auto Wipe

Automatically clears history, cache, and download history.

What it does

Auto Wipe removes selected browsing data using simple triggers: on browser startup and/or when the last window closes (best-effort). It also includes a "Wipe now" button for manual cleanup.

Removable data

  • Browsing history
  • Cache (including cache storage)
  • Download history

Triggers

  • Browser startup
  • Last window closed (best-effort)
  • "Wipe now" button

Settings

Preferences are stored in chrome.storage.sync, so they can sync across Chrome profiles.

Installation

  1. From this repo (developer mode)
Download/clone the repository. In Chrome go to Extensions -> enable Developer mode -> Load unpacked, then select the project folder.
  2. Chrome Web Store
    Install from here

Best-effort note: during Chrome shutdown, extension processes can be terminated quickly, so the "last window closed" wipe may not run in every scenario.

Permissions

Auto Wipe uses only the permissions needed to clear data and handle triggers/settings: browsingData, history, downloads, windows, storage.
